I always say the same thing.
Having shiny and silky hair is very easy as long as we have healthy grooming and washing habits.
I know people who want their hair to look attractive but they do everything wrong.
They use straightening irons and blow dryers every day as if their hair is unbreakable.
They change hair color as often as they change shoes.
They use so many shampoos, conditioners, masks, oils and hundreds of other things to the extent that their hair looks more like a Christmas tree.
It is impossible to have healthy and shiny hair if you have such bad habits.
So the first step if you want to have shinier and silkier hair is to DISCARD ALL BAD HABITS.
- If you abuse tinctures you should stop doing it.
- If you abuse hairdressing treatments, you should stop doing it
- If you abuse heat tools you should stop doing it.
Everything that is abused is bad.
If you want to have hair as shiny as the stars on a summer night, you have to discard bad habits.
That would be the first step.
The second step is the tricks that I am going to tell you now.
They are very easy tricks to apply.
They are the same tricks that I recommend to salon clients when they ask me how to have shinier hair.

The first trick is pretty easy, but few people do it.
HOW TO HAVE SILKY, SHINY AND MANAGEABLE HAIR?
Do you like water
I hope so because drinking water is one of the most important things to having healthy and shiny hair.
The other day a girl came to the salon to do her color.
At one point I say “you haven’t been drinking much water, have you?”
How do you know that I don’t drink a lot of water? The girl wondered.
“It is clear that you don’t drink a lot of liquids. Your hair reflects it. It looks sad and dull. It’s not half as bright as it should be.” I said.
As I always explain there are two basic ways to keep your hair healthy.
- First is the exterior care. They are the best known. It has to do with the shampoo we use, the conditioner, the treatments we do to our hair, the heat tools we use, etc. All of these are exterior cares.
- Then there is the care we give to our body. These cares most people do not take into account when relating them to hair. They are the cares that have to do, for example, with the quality of food. Or the amount of liquid we drink.
If the quality of your diet is poor then it will be impossible for your hair to look healthy and shiny. And the same goes for water.
If you don’t drink a sufficient amount of water every day then your natural hair will appear dull and lifeless. That’s because your hair lacks hydration.
The solution is to drink more liquid. It can be water, tea, juices, etc. Technically, sugary drinks like Coca Cola are also liquid. In short, the way to consume liquid depends on you.
How much liquid should you consume?
It depends on your weight and other factors. If you exercise you should drink more fluids because exercise makes you lose a lot of fluids.
For a person of average weight, between 50-80 kilos, drinking about two liters of water would be fine. Remember that drinking water is not only beneficial for your hair. It is also very good for your skin, nails, and general health.

WASH YOUR HAIR LESS
If you want to have smooth and shiny hair like the models that appear in shampoo ads, you have to do something painful but necessary.
Stop washing your hair every day.
This has already been said ad nauseam but I repeat it again.
The products we use to wash our hair have a series of chemicals that remove the natural oils from the hair.
These oils are what keep hair healthy and shiny. When we wash our hair every day we don’t give the hair time to regenerate these oils.
Ideally, wash your hair 3 or 4 times a week.
If you want your hair to be shiny, this trick is essential.
It is very easy to make and the results are so surprising that your friends will be crying out for the recipe.
What is it about?
You are going to choose a natural oil and apply a few drops to your hair. You have to apply the oil but without abusing it. If you tend to have oily hair, avoid putting oil on the roots.
It is also not a good idea to abuse the oil, no matter how natural it is. You should be evaluating the best application frequency according to your hair.
If you have oily hair, use the oil once a week. The last thing we want is for your hair to get greasy like fried chicken. That is why you have to be cautious until you find an ideal frequency of use for your hair.
The most important thing is that it has to be natural oil.
I am recommending coconut oil a lot lately. The important thing is to read the ingredients very well because many of the oils that are sold as natural have a very low percentage of oil.
Suppose you want to buy coconut oil, you need to read the ingredients and the ‘coconut oil’ appears last. This means that it is the least important ingredient in the total composition of the product.
You have to look for an oil where coconut is the ingredient that appears first on the list.
Also the oil you choose should not have more than 2 or 3 ingredients.

THIS IS AN OLD SCHOOL TRICK

And before my mother, my grandmother.
What is it about?
To use something that is in almost any kitchen.
These days people have hair problems and think that the only way to solve it is to buy a product that is sold in pharmacies or salons.
But my mother’s or grandmother’s generation had a more practical way of solving problems. With homemade recipes.
Recipes that can be made with ingredients that are in any house. For example vinegar.
If you don’t have vinegar you can buy it. It is very economical and the recipe that I am going to explain to you now is better than any hairdressing product.
The shampoo, conditioner and all the products that you use on your hair leave waste that accumulates in your hair. They are imperceptible debris. But they are there. The accumulation of debris causes the hair to lose its natural shine.
What we need is a treatment that removes all that waste from the hair. This is what is known as clarifying treatment.
The clarifying treatment will return the hair to its most natural state. It is basically a deep cleansing treatment. The result is much smoother and more manageable hair. So much so that you won’t even be able to believe it’s your own hair.
What we are going to do is rinse the hair with vinegar. Yes, vinegar. It sounds a bit scary. I already know it. But trust me it works. And if you don’t believe me, you can try it even once.
What kind of vinegar to use in making natural hair silky and shiny?
I recommend using the classic apple cider vinegar.
The idea is to have a mixture that is 50% water and 50% vinegar. Mix well until you get a uniform liquid. Ideally, use a spray or diffuser container to be able to apply the mixture evenly on the hair.
Let’s see how to use and apply this clarifying treatment. The treatment is applied during washing.
- Wash hair with shampoo. Massage your scalp well
- Rinse your hair thoroughly by removing all traces of shampoo
- This is where you will apply the mixture of water and vinegar that we prepared before. Apply it to cover the entire surface of your hair.
- Rinse off the clarifying treatment
- Finally, apply the conditioner that you use regularly to your hair.
- Dry hair
To put it in perspective we are simply adding a step to traditional washing. The traditional hair wash is shampoo and then conditioner.
In this case we intersperse the clarifying treatment with apple cider vinegar.
Ideally, apply this clarifying treatment 1 or 2 times a month. But no more than that, Please.
DO YOU HAVE A HUSBAND, BOYFRIEND OR LOVER?
What I am going to propose to you now implies that you steal a cotton shirt from one of them.
The idea is to dry the hair with a cotton t-shirt instead of a classic towel. I will explain why.
The classic towels have a particular texture that erases the natural oils of the hair that give the hair the shine and silkiness that we are looking for.
The solution is to use a makeshift cotton towel that does not have this texture. And I encourage you to wear your partner’s old t-shirt simply because of the size. But you can wear an old shirt of yours too.
Don’t even think about wearing your partner’s favorite shirt. Use an old one that no longer looks good.
Once you have your “new towel” you dry your hair as you normally do.
Remember that you should not rub your hair. You have to rest the towel on your hair and apply slight pressure to absorb the moisture.

A word of caution.
